Madison Heights
I was in the class of 1979 at Madison Heights High School here in Anderson, Indiana. My brothers and sisters went there as well. Back then, Madison Heights was actually two schools in two separate buildings. (The high-school and the junior high.) I went to both and neither one exists anymore. My grade school is gone too. 25th street elementary school has been sold off to someone for a fraction of how much the local taxpayers invested into it. At one time, Anderson had three high schools and a serious rivalry between them in basket ball and other sports. But after decades of fiscal mismanagement, and numerous bad decisions by the school board, several historic schools and other important parts of Anderson’s history, have vanished forever…
