my new project

I have been working on a BugOut Bag project now since May of 2020. It is nearly finished now so I have started something new. I am building what I call my E D C system. Basically, an E D C is every day carry. Things you might want to take with you as you head out of the house for whatever. My daughter summed it up nicely when I tried to explain this to her. She said (You mean kind of like a purse) so I guess I am putting together a MAN purse. lol So, guys would normally carry things like a pocket knife, multi tool, liter, keychain, cell phone, flashlight, etc. I recently got an iPad Pro and I would like to build a system around it. Below is a short list of some things I have to start this project. I have a feeling this is going to be expensive and quite fun. it will take time too.

The Starting Point

When I started my BugOut Bag project, I began with a Maxpedition Fleiger Duffel bag. Everything else just came to as it was needed to complete the thing. Hopefully, the same basic concept will work here. I begin this project with a 511 Tactical RUSH delivery bag. It is big enough for my iPad Pro and any accessories I might want to ride along. PLUS, anything you could ever need in a comprehensive E D C bag. I don’t want the thing to weigh more than my freaking bug out bag, so a bit of economical thinking will be necessary for this to work. My research with the BugOut has given me a newfound appreciation for all things titanium so that will help keep things a bit lighter. This is going to be loads of fun for me.

LEATHRTMAN FREE P4

This is simply THE BEST multi tool you can get at the time of this project. I think it has something like 21 different tools built in. (no bit driver) I guess we can’t have everything unless we in congress or something. Anyway, I digress. This is a pretty BAD ASS multi tool.

The Flashlight

I do not have any personal experience with OLIGHT however, I have seen a tun of positive reviews on YouTube so here we are. Every good E D C has to include a flashlight of some kind. This is small, lightweight and not expensive. And it puts out 160 lumens so OLIGHT gets a shot as our official flashlight for the Jeffrow E D C Project. Oh, and it is rechargeable.

F I R E !

This is something new that caught my eye as I was looking at stuff on amazon.com the other day. A solid copper trench lighter. I love things that can make fire! and I love copper.

IMG_0178.jpeg

Titanium ink pin

What can I say. You got to put one of these in your E D C. Its a titanium bolt action ink pen with waterproof ink. German crafter. Did I mention the thing is made of freaking titanium.

IMG_0182.jpeg

Emergency escape hammer

This little guy has a hammer, a tungsten carbide glass breaker, and a seatbelt cutter all in one handy tool. Hopefully, I will never need this BUT I had a bad dream where I was trapped inside a burning vehicle and could not brake the side window. This is going in the EDC pack

NOTE: I subsequently removed this item from the pack in order to cut down on the overall weight. This is a good product and is well maid. I just believed it was not really needed in an EDC pack for me, so I gave it to Carrie for her car. I plan on adding a Leatherman EMT scissors in the future and that tool has an integrated glass breaker so all is well as far as that goes. I would still recommend this hammer if it looks like something you might want..

Manicure Stuff

These clippers are German crafter precision made from service 420 stainless steel. And both feature a glass cuticle file. Like the kind you might fine in a professional nail salon.

Precision Oil Pen

Not sure what real use case this will have in my E D C bag, but it is pretty cool so I got one. You never know when something might need a drop or two of WD-40. Its made of aircraft aluminum and has a leak proof screw on cap. Ideal for getting oil to hard to reach spots.

Water Proof Stainless pill

helper

I can keep three days worth of my daily prescribed meds in here with room for a few aspirin or Advil. I have one of these in my BugOut Bag and they are well maid. And waterproof too.

Stainless Steel Water Bottle

I was going to use my YETI for this but it was too big, so I special ordered this one from amazon just for this project. The 511 Tactical bag has a place on the end just for a bottle such as this one. You have got to stay hydrated!! Even on local excursions you need fluids. With double wall construction this bottle supposedly will keep liquids cold for 14 hours,

Tech Organizer Pouch

I needed a way to conveniently organize all the cordage, cables, chargers, ear buds, slash drives, etc. So this is what I came up with.

61yhBZtT6BL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

O-Light O-Pen 2

Its an ink pen, its a flashlight, its freaking cool, and it is going in the Tech Pack.

In the end, this turned out to be more of a hybrid between (Tech bag and EDC bag) and as far as hybrids go, this one is freaking awesome. The BIG trade off with it would have to be the overall weight. Nearly 20 pounds of MacGuiver Heaven neatly pas kel into this 511 RUSH messenger bag. Bat Man’s utility belt ain’t got nothing on this bad boy. The only items remaining that I have yet to acquire for this system are as follows…. 1. FN 503 micro 9mm pistol. 2. 1 TB. SSD. 3. Hyper Link dock for the iPad. After that, this project is finished. I am thinking of doing a comprehensive médicale kit next.
