a poem about summer

elemental summer

by Jeff LeMond

Temporary refuge from gloomy gray and cold.

Basking in suns radiance as flowers soon unfold.

Winter snow gives way to rain as spring is in the air.

Meer moments pass and summer shows its self,

with moments rare.

Baseball games and cookouts

fishing on the lake.

Campgrounds, hiking, swimming.

Such a wondrous escape.

Fields of clover,

butterflies.

The local hotdog stand.

An ocean breeze,

some shady trees.

a beach with snow white sand.

Magic moments, summer days,

The time begins to fly.

Minutes, days, the weeks, the months.

A blinking of the eye.

A round of golf; an evening walk.

picnics in the park.

Chasing dragonflies by day,

and fireflies at dark.

Far too soon it passes by,  our lovely summer days.

Leaving only memories, an evanescent haze

As years go by and we grow old so much we pack away.

But hopefully we live to see another summer day.
