are we alone

In answer to the age old question, Are we alone in the universe? My resounding response would be, no way! At the risk of sounding a bit quixotic, I believe it is very unlikely we are the only intelligent lifeforms in the galaxy, let alone the universe. Far too much evidence points to the likelihood life is more common than we ever suspected possible. I hope I live long enough to witness this for myself. Let us hope our first encounter is a friendly one. Earth doesn’t need more assholes…

The Drake equation is a probabilistic argument used to estimate the number of active, communicative extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way Galaxy. The equation was formulated in 1961 by Frank Drake, not for purposes of quantifying the number of civilizations, but as a way to stimulate scientific dialogue at the first scientific meeting on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
